Hi Everyone, my first post here. This a great forum with lots of great info. I'm considering a new Street Glide in the Black Denim color. The sales guy told me the color will wear and fade over time. I love the look in the show room, so how could I keep it looking new? Or should I just go with Vivid black? I'm interested in any and all opinions on this color and how it holds up and how best to maintain that showroom look. Thanks everyone!
Sorry, I'm guilty of not using the search! Looks like everyone is happy with their Denim bikes and would buy them again. So all I need is soap and water, and windex to clean? That works for me. Thanks!
I would think the whole idea of denim is to let it wear naturally. It may fade or wear in different spots, but isn't that the point? The one thing I would be concerned about are scratches on denim - not sure you can do much with them.
Yeah, there's not much touch-up you can do to denim, but so far it's lasted fine on my Fat Bob. Granted, it's only been on the road for 7 months, but it has 8k miles and lots of washes.
FWIW I use some Meguire's car wash without any wax in it, Windex for the occassional touch up.
had mine since 07 and no issues what so ever. I use a foaming glass cleaner called Spray Way that raises the dirt up then I wipe off, prevents fine scratches by rubbing directly on the paint....

True you can't really touch up... BUT...
A while back I was using my house key to take off my seat screw...slipped and put a nice 3 inch scratch right by the scew. Looked horrible when it happened, however, since then the scratch has grown less noticable (You can hardly see it now).
Not sure what the deal is, but the scratch has definitely "gone away."
The paint is easy to maintain and looks great. If you want it, get it. I get a lot of compliments on mine.
I don't think it will fade, it's got a clear on it?
I think its a rather thick paint as well. Like any paint it will get it's nicks.
I use Windex to wipe it down. No need to hose it off. Put on a kick *** chrome polish on to.
