A guy I work with has an 05 GSXR1000. He had it dyno'd
After some mods at a little over 180 hp !
And some of the speeds this guy hits , Is crazy !
I tell him it dont matter that you have that armor on , Or that $500.00
helmet . At those speeds , You dont have much of a chance !
I know more than once a person has pulled out in front of me . A squirrel Has darted out in front of me , And they panic , They go back and forth . Well what reaction time do they have at those kind of speeds !
Flippin crazy !
Regardless of any other circumstances, he was traveling way too fast, especially at the entrance to an event. I can't help but wonder though, if the van pulled out in front of him.
Of course it did, but if he was doin 150+ you wouldn't see him when pulling out anyhow. 1/4mile in ~7 seconds
You're assuming that it's a 400 pound crotch rocket and a 4000 pound van. What about a Ultra and a mini-van? Clearly he was speeding and surely caused more damage than should have been, but like QT Hush said

I can't help but wonder though, if the van pulled out in front of him.
I'll reserve my judgements for more info, maybe both parties were at fault. Clearly the motorcyclist was though.
I bet he wasn't going near as fast as a lot of people would suspect. Although he was clearly going to fast. Keep in mind that detroit uses tin foil for sheet metal these days. 400 lb rice rocket going 70 mph in a 40 mph zone is not too unrealistic. What kind of damage do you think a 400lb guilotine shaped object would do to a mini van if struck at 70 mph. Another way of looking at it is would you want to be inside a minivan if it was going to get struck by a 600 to 800lb HD at those speeds?? No excuse for what happened but i bet it wasn't going as fast as you might think.

LINDEN, Pa. - A speeding motorcycle slammed into a van, knocking it on its side and sparking an explosion that killed all four people inside and the motorcyclist, police said.
State police said the van was turning off Route 220 when the motorcycle hit it Sunday afternoon with so much force it broke through the side of the van and knocked it over, said state police spokesman Mike Knight.
"If you look at the burned-out van, in between two seats in the van is a burned out motorcycle," he said.
The victims in the van â a man, two women and a child â are all believed to be members of the same family. The motorcyclist was a man believed to be in his early 20s, and police were investigating the possibility that there was another motorcyclist traveling with the one that crashed, Knight said.
The crash was near an entrance to the Medieval Majesty Renaissance Faire, which opened over the weekend in central Pennsylvania.
It doesn't take that much force to take out a minivan side door, especially since a third of the door is glass. 400 lbs at 50 or 60 mph would slice thru that door which is one of the weakest parts of a van. Regardless of who's at fault, I feel bad for everyone involved.
