Pops has 110K on his WG.. HD picked up the tab on new heads about 50K ago.. I cant remember what the issue was, Ill ask him next time we talk.. I just remember he wouldnt let it go until they covered under his extended warranty.. he has gotten his money out of that warranty forsure.. And he renews it everytime..
My '94 Heritage in my avatar had a tappet roller bearing fail at 49,000. Shop replaced tappets and cam and I ran it to 85,000 miles when an inspection showed the pinion shaft was chewed up from pieces of the previous failure. The engine went back to H-D for a rebuild. That was in '01.
The second motor never ran right. It used oil and ran hot-acted like clearances were too tight. At 6,000 miles it threw a rod bearing. Back to Harley it went, where they rebuilt it with new (not rebuilt) parts. Their one year warranty on remanufactured engines paid for the whole thing.
The current motor has 106,000 miles on it (factory remanufacture in '02). I change oil and filter every 2,500 miles, and change the roller tappets every 40,000 miles. Motor runs strong, uses a half pint of oil between changes, and a recent lab analysis of the used oil shows a clean bill of health. This motor is noisy, and always has been, but it runs great.

75K on my '09 and still getting the same gas mileage as when it was finally broken in after 1000 miles or so (meaning 43 mpg with corn gas and 47 mpg with non-corn gas...51 on the interstate with non-corn gas).
Had to put in a new stator, changed a head (but only because an exhaust bolt broke), and tomorrow I'm replacing the shifter shaft seal. Bike still runs like a top and I use dino oil and religiously change fluids every 2500 miles.
'08 Wide Glide started burning oil and the top end was upgraded to a 103" with the stock heads at 120K. Added the 259E cams, bike now has 155K on her with the original bottom end and tranny.
Not so lucky with the '11 Limited, scissored the crank at 60K.
Ive blown a few seals along the way. Boy what a mess!
That is pretty kinky and way TMI!!!!
I was close to 98K when my 01 was totaled, noticing a bit of loss in the upper power band range climbing pretty steep hills at highway speed. The old 88 is going to an S&S 97". Was at the shop yesterday and my Indy is making good progress.
I had a wrist pin bushing go out at 10k. That rebuild only lasted another 40K before it ate the crankpin and bearing. I have been very disappointed with mine. 2008 FLHTC.
