What happens if you put a 5 micron filter on a bike that calls for a 10?
i dont know how big of a difference 5 microns would make, but it wont flow as well. if the bike is designed for the 10m filter, it might oil starve the motor to run one with 5m. again, im not a mechanic. just a guess
I'm not trying to sound tough. Just look at all the threads about people getting Fed in the a$$ by dealers parts and service departments. I avoid them like the plague. I probably should have been more specific. I won't buy anything from my local dealer or any dealer that I have the choice of avoiding. Other than that, I ride bone stock, so no not even chrome. Maybe an 18 & 21 setup on my FLHX later, but nothing else.
Boy you guys cry ALOT. i know most of you are older than me, dont you remember back in the day when you had to wait for pretty much EVERYTHING? its like in today's world if you cant get something right away, people get super pissed.
relax.
go ride yer bike.
get home and have a beer.
Been using Wix filters for years on all of my Harleys - no problems whatsoever. As for oil pressure - either you have it or you don't but 5 or 10 microms in much ado about nothing if you asked me,particularly if you are using a conservative OCI (oil change interval) as most of us are.
Other than the motorcycles, which I really like, I avoid the Stealerships like they were HIV positive because, financially, they are. MoCo Syn3 is at the bottom of the barrell (no pun intended) compared to what's available for the same or le$$, ditto for oil filters and just about anything else for your machine.
Last year my battery died in my 03 Dyna. I went to buy a new one and they said it would be 1-2 weeks before they could get me one. Yes they too had an abundance of dog hats, toilets seats, and wall trinkets.

I found this sorta interesting. Would like to see the inside of a OEM HD filter. I got one on the shelf in the garage maybe thats what I'll do today!
