Buying a Harley and age cured most of my problems. Easier to behave when not riding an 120+hp light bike and trying to throw around 900lbs does not make it easy. I feel your need though and the OH S!@# can make you a better rider, if your still riding after it.
Fear has over taken courage at my age, and I try to respect my own limitations.
Years ago I delt with this very problem,All my bikes since have been setup to do the twisties as fast as humanly possible. Now with both my bikes,Road Kings, having huge motors, upgraded brakes, shocks, everything tucked in and as high as possible, the twisties are an absolute blast. The limiting factor now is tire adhesion.
Ahh, there jus' AINT NUTHIN like 'throwing' a 10 foot long, hardtail chopper, INTO the TWISTYS. YeeHaa !!!!! JUS' hope I don't hit a pothole, or a 'raised' patch, in the middle of the curve. The rear wheel goes 'airborne', and WHERE I'm coming down, is NOT guar-own-teed.
LIMITS ?!?!? What limits ??? WE don't need your steenking limits !!!!
You'll know XZACTLEE where "your" limits are, JUS' as soon, as you PASS 'EM.
Before I retired I was in safety and handled all Work Comp cases. Every one of my cases where an employee was injured, every one of them pushed it pass the safety standards. Not putting guards back on, not using PPE. (not using gloves), bypassing safety switches ETC.ETC...
A HD is not a sports bike and not made to take twistys at high speed.
It depends on the type of HD & ground clearance. I think you would be surprised how fast I can take a twisty on my Deuce.
Supermoto, now you're talking!! I keep threatening to get another KTM 450 and try some S/M, it sure looks like it would be fun! I wonder how a two stroke bike would do...............?? Is that a BMW 450 in the back?
Sumo racing is a blast! I learned to be much smoother on the kart track. The guy behind my had a new Aprilia SXV 5.5 and was learning how to ride it. I had fun messing with him all day.
The real trick is to slow down and enjoy the ride.
The idea is to ride to have a good time not make good time.
(stole that from the kids movie CARS..my 2yr old watches it 10times a day LOL)
