over the years observing at large rallyes i notice shorter people are riding softails such as heritages and fatboys. with the new fatboy low my girlfriend at 5'6" can easily put her feet flat on the ground with some bend in her knees.
I am 5'3 and I had the same concerns back in the spring when I was looking for my first bike. I first looked at the sportsters but I was really looking for the classic cruising feel. I ended up going with the Dyna Street Bob and lowered it a tad and it is perfect. I have no problem getting both feet flat on the ground. My friend also just got a Softail Deluxe and I've sat on that a few times and it seems to work as well. Good luck finding the right bike! Don't think you can't get one based on your height...you can.
My wife is 5'1" and rides a Fatboy with a lowering kit. It is lowered about 1 1/2 in. Another big help is the seat. Not only is it thinner, but more importantly it is narrower than the stock seat. That helped a lot. She also has handlebars off of a Heritage and they are adjusted back just a little. The bike fits her, but I can't ride it.!
your only 5'2" ? looking at your pictures I figured you for about 5'7" you must hang with some short people
Only in my dreams Babe. No, I really don't. I do wear a pair of Dingo cowboy boots as my riding boots and the heels on those are probably 1.5" or a little more and I flat foot my unlowered Deluxe fine. I've contemplated changing the bars around too, but they suit the bike and seem to suit me and I've done 500 mile days without undue discomfort from the bars or the seat. But lots of vertically challenged people I know have changed out their bars and their seats. TwiggyAZ for example has a Reach Seat and I believe Sporty Pull Back bars on her Deluxe and is very happy with the arrangement. I keep hearing good things about the Chubby Bars, believe it's the 518's (?). Lots of options.
Hey GG..
What if justhereto is a he?
He'd look pretty funny in heels..
Not high heels ya' goof ball, just riding boots with a decent amount of heel on 'em like western/cowboy boots. Just watch that they have a grippy sole. No, don't need a guy going and doing the Prince thing and prancing around in boots with platform heels. Wait, KISS did exactly that! As to the other, been there, done that already sweetie. Sorry you missed it.
