There's a lot of clean, low mileage bikes on the market. As a result, average resale values have dropped. I want to move to a different model, but I travel on biz and don't have the time to sell my bike. Dealer wholesale trade allowances are a joke.

Buyers market man!

Really hope you didn't run one of those "$30K Invested" ads. Those people are pretty dumb.

You'll be able to sell your bike if you want/need to, but you won't be getting what you feel you should.

Supply and Demand.

Demand goes down (lots of people out of work, or afraid to spend on toys, etc.), and supply goes up.

As supply goes up, prices go down in order to generate a sale.

The opposite will also hold true, although I don't think we will see it anytime soon.
As people get back to work, and people start spending on toys again the supply will begin to go down (remember, manufacturers have slowed production).
Then prices will start to rise.

But for now and the foreseeable future, the supply is going to be greater than demand.

Used prices actually seem to be more realistic that they were a few years back. That 06 is 4 years old, MSRP was about 18k Lost 2k as soon as it left the showroom and depreciated another $750/year.
Sucks for people who bought new and expected to not lose a dime.

You also have to remember that about 10 years ago MSRP was going up every year. This and supply vs. demand kept used prices artificially inflated.

Economy, Harley made and sold more, Gas prices was up, Jobs going south. All this in the last 3 yrs.

IMO lots of buyers jumped in 2-3 yrs ago and now there are a bunch of bikes that were bought during that time and they are just sitting there..

Have U noticed how many new members are getting bikes 2-4 yr old with less than 5k on them, lots of garage Queens....

Now that gas is back down I think a lot of those impulse buyers that rode very little are now dumping that thing that is sitting in the corner of their garage taking up room...

I actually like the used Harley market the way it is now. Harleys are more for riding, not so much collecting, and now they are priced that way!

Can you say 3 years old with only 380 miles on it? Glad too because I couldn't pull the trigger on a new FXDL . . .but one with only 380 miles on it for $7k less than the dealer was quoting for an 09 . . . .OH BABY!

personally, I couldn't care less what the prices are. I'm gonna ride this one until either it or me is plum wore out.
