All you hard core bikers check out advrider.com and read "The WRONG Way Round....on a Chopper". Good read with good pictures about real touring on a good looking 62 Panhead all the way around the world.
I've been following that thread for a while there.
Doug is an interesting guy and can tell a good story. Man, some of those Japanese customs are crazy!
He did another RTW (round the world) on a '27 Indian a few years before the RTW he just finished on the '62 pan.
Interesting that he chose to post on advriders.com, where most members ride "BMW luxo barges that look like they rode through the Touratech catalog" (Doug's words) or they are penny-pinching KLR types.
But Doug has no stomach for the Harley snob either. He, clearly, loves to ride anything and everything, wherever.
Buy a six pack, read his ride report, and post a congrats to him.
I've been following since the beginning. He posted on ADV because that fit his personality better. He clearly loves HDs and indians, but most any old bike. Later in his blog he discusses some bikes I wasn't familiar with.
Every year he does shlt that the rest of us would love to do once in our lifetime.
