Default Model down-sizing - is this HD blasphemy?!

I'm thinking about selling my Fat Bob and buying a Nightster. Financial situation and a re-evaluation of my bike usage patterns have prompted this recent decision. Am I going to be disappointed in a down-size like this? Has anyone done this? We're all supposed to keep buying bigger bikes aren't we?

riding is all about the experiance ...ISN'T IT ? Whichever bike gives you the best experiace for that ride is the correct one. In an ideal life there would be more than 1 Harley in everyones garage.

You have to do what is right for you. Me personally, I would do everything in my power to keep what is mine. I have spent too many hours making my bike mine, and just to give it up due to financial situations, couldn't, wouldn't want to do it. If you have time and $$$ invested, you need to ask yourself if its really what you WANT to do. Make sure your decision is the correct one, so one day you wont say, "What if"... Just my opinion.

I am fortunate enough to own an Ultra and a Sporty. I'd say if you must "down-size" as you put it, the Nightster is a good choice. Between the two, I'd take a Nightster over a Fat Bob any day... Good luck in your decision, and just keep on riding!

If I was in the same boat..I wouldnt mind owning a Nightster again. I already have the mods planned out if something does happen. The Nightster was a really fun bike.

If it ever came down to it I dont think it would matter what I was riding so long as I was riding.

That's the most important factor in your decision IMO. I was considering "up sizing" my dyna. Thought it might be nice to have a fairing to block the wind and keep me warmer on the cold Northwest days. But, as I looked at the kind of riding I like to do, having a more "nimble" bike fits my riding style much better. I prefer twisties and avoid freeways whenever possible. So, my advice, which is worth exactly what you paid for it is, do whatever you can financially to match the bike to how you like to ride.

I do own a Nightster and I have to say that it is a fun bike! However it is a stripped down bike. No frills just looks and lots of power. Things you should think about is are you carrying a passanger? are you taking long trips? Passangers are not comfortable on the nightster especially on rides that last 4 hrs. You will need to add about $400 worth of accessories to ride 2 up also. The suspention sucks. Having said all of that, I want a bigger gike BUT im not getting rid of the nightster! I love it!
