HD revised / updated products??
Stopped at a friends independent HD shop yesterday.
He showed me some info from HD factory (he isn't supposed to get, but does)
1. for 2010 sporties, they updated design of fuse block, because of warranty issues. Made it more of a downslope so water would not corrode terminals as easily.
2. for 2010 models redesigned the oil tank by adding a 10psi pressure relief
valve
This is apparently a warranty issue also for those of us that live up north and ride when weather is cold.
Apparently the built in vent tube and or return line from the crankcase, has been condensating, and then the moisture freezes. Then next time you start it the tank builds up pressure and explodes. I know, mine did it twice. Was a real pain to get it covered under warranty. But they did finally relent and do it.
Anyway, it seems HD is now aware the pressure build up problem exists, as evidenced by the redesign.
Question: has anybody heard if we that have had problem with tank, blowing up, are we going to be eligible for a free replacement tank under warranty, or will it be another fight with HD.
Called a dealer today, and he says there are pending recalls, on what he didn't say, so maybe HD will issue a recall on thhis?
