The jiffy stand works, period. I;ve had mine down with wheel to the left, straight, and all the way right, and nothing has ever happened. Once it locks in it isn't going anywhere. But, if a Yammie stand gives you peace of mine, then put it on, or get you a center stand.

Yeah...And you have to put it down with flair too. I usally give my ankle a little twist as the jiffy stand touches the ground. When peeps see you do that.....They know your not a poser..

The only complaint I have about my jiffystand is that on my 2010, the it looks like an unpolished piece of metal. All previous years they looked highly polished, almost chrome. Other than that, never had one fail yet. A friend of mine has gone through a couple springs though...

Same model bike.

Talked to some other folks, and they pointed out that the way the stand is now, if you left it down and touched it to ground going into a left, it should swing up without to much trouble. If it was further forward, it would have to extend down (thru the bottom of it's arc) and would stand the bike up a little, with more chance of causing instability.

I left mine alone, and got used to it,

Faast Ed, the reason the stand is straight up/ leaning back, is to reduce the chances of dumping the bike if you forget to put it up.
On a left hand turn, if your stand is angled forward, when it hits the road, it gets "longer" as it swings through its arc, forcing the bike upright.
If your stand is straight, its already at its "longest" point when it makes contact with the road.
