broke. sheared off perfectly flush with the part of the chassis it threaded into. i failed to mention that i did use the locktite blue. we were at bruce rossmeyer's destination daytona when i noticed that the board was missing. i had my tools in the saddle bag. i even backed the bolt out from the other side halfway and reapplied locktite to make sure i could get home without further incident.

That's alot of how Harleys have gotten a bad rap over the years. It ain't rocket science, but you do need to do things right and use common sense.Or find someone who does.

I lost both passenger floorboards on my RKC(one FB each year) I recovered one but never heard the other one drop off the next year. luckily the bike was under warranty and i got the non recovered one replaced, with the chrome covers as well. Apparently HD uses cheap chinese bolts that just snapped off. my bike still had part of the bolt in the frame.

For warranty to apply, you would have had to have the dealer install the accessory at time of purchase or have it added to your purchase within 30 days of bike purchase.. is what I was told by the dealer

Now that's funny. Not true; but still funny.

A torque wrench is fine and required for many things but with floor boards the use of Blue Loctite and a regular inspection of anything and everything that can come loose is you best course of action.

We were on a run many miles from home and a fellow biker lost the shifter off his softail. We found it and he did not have any tools either. We got him going good enough to get to a dealer and get it fixed properly.

I hear and many things falling off and regular inspection is the best insurance in my opinion.

Thanks and ride safe
