Default ISO Grip Came off

While riding I noticed I had to give more and more throttle to maintain speed. Turns out the ISO grip was slipping. The adhesive lost its hold I guess. What do I use to "re-glue" it? And how does that effect me upgrading to custom grips later on?

Thanks

uuhh, grip glue? LOL, J/K. I actually use spray paint when I put grips on. Been using it for 20 years and haven't had any trouble with it but you can buy glue designed specifically for installing grips. Easy to find at most MC shops that deal in MX bikes. Cheap too.

BTW, no affecting anything later. If you remove the grips you have now, simply remove any glue residue before installing new grips.

While I had my Sportster, the iso grip came lose on the left side. Looking inside, not a lot of contact area due to toe raised pads on the grip. I used duct tape around the handle bar, and a layer of duct tape w/ adhesive side out on the last inch on top of the tape, then twisted the iso grip on, never came loose after that.

Glue the throttle side grip Maybe the housing screws loosened up?

BTW, I have a throttle side ISO with a throttle boss in like new condition. I changed out the grips & destroyed the left one taking it off. If you're interested PM me.

I had my left ISO grip come loose this Spring after being on for a couple of years. I just put some gorilla glue on and all was well.

Had the left ISO Grip come loose on me twice Used Gorilla type Super Glue the last time and has not budged from cold rain to extreme heat conditions.. Won't either bother trying to ever take it off if decide to put different handlebars on.. Never had a problem with the right..

Yeah - grip glue works. I've had it happen a few times on different bikes. I take the grip off, run some sandpaper over the bar to remove the residue, and re-glue.

My buddy Super Dave had his clutch grip come off in a wheelie once while we were blasting up the highway. You should have seen his face.

I don't think you would want to re-glue the right grip to the bar. I'm thinking the rubber inside the casing is glued to the plastic sleeve that is under the rubber. The ISO looks like it has 3 layers, the outside metal cage, the middle rubber grip & the inner plastic sleeve. The sleeve slides over the bar & is held in by the housing & cables. The rubber is probably glued to the plastic sleeve.

Gorilla Glue rocks. It can be a mess if you use too much. Its seems to foam up and expand.
