lol ok i guess I'm not asking the right question..lol. I'm originally from VA so I'm familiar with the the temp tags there but here in CO no matter if it's a bike or car or trailer, at the dealership you are not able to get lic plates there. There is some kinda of legal paperwork BS that goes from the dealer to the loaner (eagle mark) so yes eagle mark owns the title until the balance is paid in full. So my new question is this: those of you in Colorado that financed through eaglemark, how long was the wait until you got your slip in the mail to run down to the DMV to get your tags?
I believe that Eaglemark still has to register the lien in Colorado. I was meaning that they might not do it unless Colorado requests it from them. Go to your local DMV and ask them about it all. They should be familiar with new HD registrations and they'll tell you what you need. In Ky, we hold our own titles, even if there is a lien... but that wasn't the holdup.. Eaglemark wouldn't do anything until the state sent them a request. Just trying to help.... hope it works out for you. Waiting on it all sucks, especially if there is a hold up that no one tells you about and the dealer is just ignorant about the whole thing.

This how it worked for me in Alaska on 3 different new bikes.

1. Buy / finance the bike as required.

2. Dealer fills out new title form for state DMV (I get a copy)

3. Dealer sends paperwork to state DMV.

4. Dealer gets new plates and registration

5. Dealer calls me to come pick up.

Delay between steps 3 and 4 up to 60 days.

There is a possibilty of delay between steps 2 and 3 as well as 4 and 5. (I have had to call the Dealer before to get "Oh yeah, they're sittin' right here, meant to call you."

This is how it worked for me as well, except I am in Texas. Bought the bike from a dealer in New Mexico, they took my paperwork to the Texas DMV , got everything taken care of, and called me to come pick them up. Only took about 10 days from the time I rode away from the dealer to the time I had my plates.

I got mine when I got the bike. Why did you have to wait 2 weeks? The last two cars I have bought they said what do you want: regular, bay, or farm as they hold one of each up.

I didn't ride off with a temp tag when I bought both my 05 Eg Classic or my 06 Ultra, I took the plate off the bike I was trading in and road home with that. The dealer gave me the certificate of origin and a check for the state tax along with the needed paper work. I road to the DMV registered the bike and switched the plate all at once. The DMV sent the title off to Eaglemark and gave me a bill of sale so I could get my plates switched over.
