Default Texas Registration

The thread about where to carry registration got me to thinkin'. Dangerous, I know! Anyway, Texas doesn't issue registrations, in a paper form, anyway. For cars you get a sticker that goes on the windshield, and a receipt that must be carried, but only in commercial vehicles. For bikes you get a month & year sticker for the plate, and the same type receipt as a car gets, again it only needs to be carried in a commercial vehicle.

Just wonderin' if any of us Texians has ever been stopped out-of-state on a bike? Did the John-Law ask for your registration?

SAme here...Was stopped in Nebraska and asked for the paper work. I just laugh and said in Texas we do not have any...But then they had to laugh and told me i needed a helmet ...Oh well $50.00 later i drove over and got one just to wear going thru the state... Now i use it for a water catcher at home....

Never been stopped out of state, but as the others say I would just point out TX laws. If they do not like it TFB for them.

No Skip, but in about 1967 I did get pulled over in my 35 Ford Sedan,
and had an inspection sticker from my 67 Triumph motorcycle on the windshield.

No drivers license, no insurance either.

Cop stuck his head in the passenger window (they were on the pass side back then),
looked right at it close, looked at me, 18 yrs old, and said "get outta here".

Be careful in Louisiana. Depending on the cop, they don't care what Tx law says!!! Don't ask me how AI know!!!!

I carry mine, stapled to my insurance ID card, just for that reason....it's no big deal as it's only 1 sheet of paper and most states require it of their drivers. I've been stopped for speed several times out of state over the years and it's my philosophy that the fewer complications you present to the LEO the more likely that you can get a warning ticket.
