Default sg hard ride

Thinking of instaling 13"shocks then using a lowering kit to keep low look of SG does this make sence?

Get rid of it. That's what I did. I never bottomed out so much in my life.I bought the 09 SG in July and traded it for a Heritage in October. Haven't bottomed out since. I was really surprised that a touring bike road that hard.

Have you checked to see if there's air in the shocks?

I ran 40 pounds in mine. There was little or nothing in there when I bought the bike. It helped some but still bottomed out. Yeah, I'm fat but not real fat,215 pounds. I've read many posts in the touring section of this forum from guys who had the same issue. Maybe it's the new frame design. I think most complaints are with the 09's.

never rode one so just relating what I've heard, several (3)in our group have SG's and they are not happy with the ride over the softails they used to have.

Seems since I started looking at SGs there's been a bunch of posts from unhappy owners. Must be a sign for me to stick with my Heritage.

40 lbs is too much I run 15 lbs in my 09. I traded a 06 Deluxe in on my SG. That is BS trying to say that a ST has a better ride than a SG

40 pounds is not too much.Read your owners manual. The newer air shocks take a lot more pressure than the older ones did. Tells you right in the book to run 40-45 for two up riding. I figure my weight is close to two up when I ride solo.

Now that I'm back on a Heritage, I don't even think about avoiding pot holes and bumps. I blast through any road surface and never bottom out. My SG would bottom out on everything. Go on the touring forum and do a survey. I'm not the only one that was unhappy with the ride.

I'm not trying to knock the SG, and especially not yours, but the truth is that the softail rides better. I'm only talking about the 09 SG since it's the only one I ever owned. I had an 08 RKC that was fine, as well as an 05 EGC that I never had that issue with. Maybe something to do with the new drame design.
