The H-D heated gloves have been a God send for me. I sure am glad I have them. If your fingers have been cold before, and close to frostbite, it's even more important to have good stuff. This is a safety issue.

I'll second the GloveGuys.com. I have a pair of their winter busters and they're great. Well made and very inexpensive. A bit bulky, but worth it to keep my fingers warm.

I use more than one pair of glove heated glove great for weather below 20. Weather above freezeing I like a good pair of glove with a rain coat for those rain clouds. Weather above 50 I like mesh gloves with light armor.

ski gloves: they're made to be 100% wind-/waterproof at extreme cold temperatures.

Hestra gloves are the best cold-weather gloves I have ever owned. I use them on the bike, too.

Hey there...SoCal guy here also. I use HD gauntlette gloves. Like you I was looking for something other than the gloves I typically wear throughout the year that would keep my fingers toasty, but also sealed off the lower portion of my (jacket) sleeve so cold air wouldn't blow up my arm while riding. I bought a pair of leather HD gauntlette gloves and I must say I absolutely love them. They are a fantastic pair of gloves...cost around $80.00 and I would recommend them to anyone. Because they are so much thicker (especially when brand new) than my plain non-insulated leather gloves it took a little getting used to at first, mainly because they are so thick. After a period of break in, they softened up and the padded insulation began to conform to my fingers and they didn't feel so much like ski gloves anymore.

Because the gauntlette are designed to go over your jacket sleeve, they absolutely keep the cold air out which is a big plus. If I remember correctly there are more than a couple different gauntlette style gloves. Mine are not the medieval style gauntlette gloves that pratically reach the top of your forearm. These style of gloves only go 3-4" past your wrist. I felt that was all that was necessary to keep the cold wind out and since they have a velcro strap which I close (and tightens around my jacket sleeve). Cold air stays out and my fingers remain toasty. I have 4 pair of gloves and these are definitely my most favorite.

Here's a link to the glove guys website. Trust me, these are really nice: (no, I don't work for them or have any affiliation whatsoever!)

I lived in So. Cal. for 20 years and the best riding glove I found for there and even a bit colder is the deer skin gauntlet. I got mine at Thurlow's in SD but these from Chilhowee are basically the same. I still use them to this day.
