Default Melted plastic on exhaust

Hey everyone quick question.. I rode my bike from the gym the other day and I was wearing some boardshorts that I guess had a lot of nylon/plastic material in them and some of it melted to the heat shield of my sportster...
So now I have like this melted plastic stuck on there and I don't know the best way to remove it without scratching the pipes.. anyone have an idea?

Just saw a demo on that Saturday. Try Purple Slice (www.purpleslice.com) I use it in- between washes on my paint, chrome, and windshild. Didn't know it would take plastic off too. Pipes should be hot.

Get the pipe hot again and wipe off 90% or more with dry towel. Then when it is warm use a rubbing compound or metal cleaner like brasso and some VERY FINE steel wool or brass wool this will take of the rest with no scratching.

Get the pipes hot use a piece of wood to get the worst off the when the pipes cool use goo gone let it soak for a while then use one of the green dish scratchers( the plastic one) with the goo gone and it will take it off. takes a little elbow grease but won't scratch

My son laid his sole on my pipe once while 2 up. I peeled off the big stuff with a razor blade. While I was trying to figure out what to do w/ the rest it just burned itself off. Might be hard to believe but there is no sign of it now,,, just like it never happened.

Steel wool, especially when wet ( including polish, etc) will damage the chrome. Laquor (sp) thinner will melt the plastic.
