Normal riding and good adjustment is the key to long belt life. I had over 75,000 on my last bike and the belt looked fine. I have seen many last over 100,000 miles.

Mine has been adjusted as needed. And looked fine. Still looks in good condition, except that it broke last week. 65,000 miles.

Weekly adjustments, oil all over the rim. new chain yearly, new sprokets every couple, even had a couple coat ruined with an oil stripe on them. Yep I miss the chain final drive...

My chain conversion is done. My knee hasn't recovered enough to ride yet but I'm looking forward to hearing a little noise down there and feeling something that reminds me I'm on a Harley and not a GW when I go riding again.

My 2000 RG still has the original belt at 146,000 miles.

My good friend has a 2002 XL883 Sportster that he bought new and it had about almost 46,000 miles or so on it when the belt snapped. My 1999 XL883 has almost 50,000 miles on it and the belt still looks good to me. His bike is always outside and uncovered and he rides it everyday. I have heard that they should go about 100,000 miles or so. Your results may vary.

They are very dependable, but when they break, you have to tear half the bike down to fix it!
