Ok so I just wanted to wipe off some crud on the exhaust... so i grabbed a towel and tried to clean the crud off but the exhaust was still too hot. It burned some of the towel right on the pipe. In a panic I tried to wipe off the burned towel with the towel again and made it a little worse. Is there anything that I can use (metel polish or something) that will help get the burned towel fibers off of the pipe?
First of all let the dang thing cool off to cold. Get the area as wet as possible and take as much of it off with soap and water and a rag. NEVR-Dull is a metal polish that is impregnated cotton wadding in a can. You can buy the product at most auto parts stores. Rub the area with a little of this wadding and it should take everything off. Great for burned-on rubber from your boots. etc.
Always wash your bike when it is cooled off.
Oven cleaner worked for me!! Had polyester on pipes and mufflers ... and I didn't feel a thing ... what a maroooon I am ..lol
One thing to keep in mind though .. is block off the engine if you can with something ... because that spray goes all over the place! I used Easy Off cleaner .. with the pipes hot ! Did it twice and the polyester was gone.
