In a word, Yes. I have been trying to decide which bike to purchase next year and even today I'm taking a Triumph Rocket III for a test ride. But the 2007's end any confusion I had. The Softail Custom is the bike I almost traded my 1983 FXWG in for about 20 years ago then they dropped the model. It's back so now my decision is easy unless the dealers charge way more than MSRP. As a previous owner of a Shovel Head and an Iron Head I think the changes the moco has made with the fuel injection and so forth is a good thing for those of us who prefer a stock or close to stock bike just for reliability.
Can't say for sure how much I like them yet but I do like the direction the MOCO is going. I am planning on test driving an '07 bagger ASAP.
Also, did anybody else notice that there is a V-Rod with a 5 gallon fuel tank now? Does this mean there will be a touring V-Rod soon?[sm=confused06.gif]

The VRSC line up, although it has a much needed 5 gallon tank, still retains the same engine. With a wider rear tire, but no more power to push it, the bikes will, in my opinion, be slower and less responsive than their 2006 counterparts. Because of the 180, I could purchase SE pipes, and the factory wheel option, I am satisfies with my 2006.
Harley historians will probably note '07 as a pivotal model year - and the year that Harley becomes truly feature-for-feature competitive with the metric cruisers.
Besides the obvious - 96" engine, 6-speed tranny, there are some long-overdue "little" updates that aren't' getting much attention:
[ul][*] clutch interlink switch (no more accidentally starting the bike in gear)[*] clock integrated into the odometer (Woo hoo! WTF took so long to make this happen???)[*] Updated LED idiot lights[*] All the engine maintenance updates that were originally on the '06 Dynas (better oiling, hydraulic cam tensioners, auto primary tensioners, etc.)[*] Updated final drive belt[*] on the touring models, the ability to reprogram the heat management software[*] upgraded charging system
[/ul]
blah blah blah
On the surface, these may not seem like big updates. Looking at the big picture however, these '07 updates give Harley a leg up on the metric cruisers. Harley now has feature parity, a much stronger dealer network, arguably the best build quality of any cruiser, better resale and of course, an owner community second to none. The metric cruiser manufacturers are now going to be forced to rely on price as a selling tool.
