There is a Whiner Group here in northern Illinois opposed to 'light pollution'. They want all home outdoor lighting banned, street lights toned down, etc., etc.

Harley carries a lot of weight in Wisconsin and a few weirdos in Madison aren't going to change that. Some anti this or anti that motorcycle group always gets some exposure every year, but nothing ever comes of it. There are few things in this world that someone isn't going to complain about.
As a former bicyclist, Harley's never bothered me. When cycling on the road we rely on hearing what is behind us and Harleys never came out of no where. And now that I'm riding the Harley, I allways take care to give the cyclist plenty of room.
Anyway, Harley is already the state motorcycle. I have no problem making it official, just don't spend too much time or momey on doing so.

Motorcycle noise is terrifying to some. And they often can't even tell anyone. Autistic children are often hypersensitive to loud noises -- and many are unable to speak.
Spring is here and with it, once again, comes the inconsiderate over-loud "ego" bikers.
Not all of them, mind you. But a large number of motorcycles are equipped with what are called "straight pipes" -- designed to make them so loud that all conversation within half a mile has to stop until they drive on.
Our daughter spent five warm-weather seasons screaming in terror whenever one of these fighter jet loud ego machines rumbled past our house. It would often take up to an hour to calm her down and get her to stop crying.
If you ride one of these uber-loud monsters, you can be sure that you leave children like this in your wake every time you roar through any neighborhood.
You make little girls cry. Proud of yourselves?
I know United Bikers of Maine conducts its annual toy run. Do they know that riding un-muffled bikes actually terrifies some kids?
Ride your motorcycles, but please get a muffler. Do you think your recreation is an excuse to scare kids?

So are you also from the Peoples Republic of Madison? One advantage we have is all the bicyclists....they ride like morons too...Cagers are use to looking out for them. Compared to them....we are in semi trucks. I have far fewer issues with cagers not seeing me when I ride here.
