Yeah, I'd take 44 and no snow or salt. 14 deg here today and about 3" of snow, lotsa road salt left on the roads.

As long as the road is dry and pretty clear of salt, I'm game for a stroll.

I would have really liked 40 since I got the bike out again today for the first time in a week and a half and the temps finally got above freezing again. Hit around 34 degrees so I got the turtle neck sweater out, put the face mask, ear covers, and ski goggles on with the half helmet and RODE! Just can't go for long since my gloves still don't keep the hands warm and I don't want to invest in electric ones. Tried leather with thinsulate, my Harley Goretex (thin) gloves, and today the old ski gloves that I have had for quite a few years. Guess I will keep looking for gloves that work for me. The one thing that really works is the Joe Rocket jacket that my nephew lent me. Arms and chest were just fine.

In the meantime, got only about 5.5 miles and half an hour in but even so, it really felt good!

40s is good enough for me. it makes a difference if it is sunny also. having that sun out feels warmer.

Rain and wind are big facts for me also.

Once salt is on the road the season is done for me. I have no way to rinse the bike off after a ride. The salt dust left on the bike after a ride, oxidation will start as soon as there is a temp and humidity swing in the garage. Riding on the road with that dried up salt dust is like riding on ice.

Last Spring I thought the salt was all washed away so I went for a ride. I wanted to make a left turn and when I moved into the left turn lane there was salt still on the road and I almost dropped the scoot on it's side when the rear end slipped out from under me.

To much $$$$ invested in my scoot. I will have to bite the bullet and wait for the temp to stay above 32ş. And have at least two good rain storms before I ride again.

I can comfortably do some city riding at 44 on my Night Train with a half helmet.

Full face helmet and all that other stuff you mentioned AND hiding behind that big ol fairing you should be able to go lower than 40's with no problem.

Wish I had all that stuff on my bike to hide behind this time of the year!
