Default Loud Pipes do save lives!

Look even chevy is concerned with their new volt car not being loud enough for safety. Sound matters. We hear as well as see while driving to sense that which is around us. Lets face it, how many times has one exclaimed, "what are you blind!!!" when voicing your frustration outloud (to yourself) at the driver that almost killed you. http://autos.aol.com/?adl=62687&ncid...3:icon_tongue:

There is not a doubt in my mind … loud pipes DO save lives (just don't depend on them exclusively).

heck yeah, can't fathom the naysayers with the prove it in their tone. The proof is all around, emergency vehicles have sirens, we hear and see.... what more does one need!

That's a good way of looking at it. If I ever get a loud pipes ticket, I'll make that point in court.

+1 on the lights. I'll take extra lights for safety over loud pipes any day.

The people that pull out in front of you, can't hear the pipes pointed behind you. But they sure can see the five headlights I have

I don't care about the people behind me, they saw, and heard me when I passed them.

But my Rineharts sure sound sweet.

I'd rode in a group with a guy once whose bike was so loud he put plugs in his ears. I'm thinking, what good are loud pipes for safety when you can't hear for yourself what is going on around you. I like a nice beefy tone on my Harley, I have 2" rush slip-ons, but when you end up wearing ear plugs...maybe you went too far and now have regrets.

If anything he should have used an I Pod instead of earplugs. But then again,he probably would'nt have heard it.

Can't agree on loud pipes saving lives, To many dead bikers with straight pipes. I've been almost killed many times in the past 35 years and have always had loud pipes. Ain't buyn the myth
