First Ride!
Took my MSF course this weekend, stood in line for my endorsement today (boss was happy to let me off *paid* for the time - he owns a 03' RK Classic) and came home.
Skies were grey. 92 degrees out, rolled her out of the garage and fired it up!
I sat there feeling the rumble and saw the litte boy across the street grinning from ear to ear.
Let it warm up for a minute and set it to half choke. A little throttle, ease out the clutch and we were rolling!
This was NOT the Kawasaki Eliminator 125cc classroom bike - This was THE BIKE. It was everything I had hoped for. I cruised it around the neighborhood for about 20 minutes (trying to keep the noise down to a decent thunder
) and watched the faces of all the people I rode by. Some were indifferent, some looked down their nose, and some looked on longingly.
I kept it in between 20-30 mph as my neighborhood is full of twists, turn and morons who back out suddenly not seeing my metallic green silverado 1500.. so I knew it would be hazardous to go faster.
I wanted to take it on the main roads and open it up a bit, but I don't want to outride my experience on the bike. 30 felt fast enough to this newbie in a moderately controlled environment.. for now.
The bike is no longer a hunk of lovingly sculpted iron in the garage, it is now a living breathing entity that needs respect and love.
Sorry for the mushyness but I had to share. Simply incredible.
But you have all known this for a long time now.

Glad to hear that you are out on the road, so to speak. Have fun, it does get better and better every day. The nervousness will cease, and the ride will be that much better. Glad to hear that you know your limits and, to this point, havn't tried to exceed them.
[sm=signs003.gif] and enjoy the ride.
