I think that's crazy. These bikes cost as much as a car and most of us want and expect alot more than 30,000 trouble free miles out of our cars.

Think about how much more sophisticated a modern car is over a motorcycle. By comparison to a car a Harley is way (and I do mean way back as in Neanderthal days) behind.

Of course a modern Harley looks good to those POS bikes they strapped us with back in the day.

Harley could be doing much better, IMHO. To start with they could give us a 5 year or 60,000 mile warranty as a standard with every new motorcycle.
To compare a bike to a car makes no sense. No hood, no roof & everything has to be squeezed into a small space. Then expose it to all the elements including water. Lets see how long a car last if you put the top down or leave the windows open when it rains. Good Luck!

A lot of the things you heard about Harleys were from the same kind of people we have today.Complainers!!!! For some complaining makes them the person they are.Back when we had no choice with anything we bought cars trucks, and motorcycles, you took what was offered. We all new Harleys leaked oil, breakdowns? was always because those complainers never maintained their machines correctly. Most of us never gave it a second thought,my machines never broke down. The machines today are built a lot better and will last a lot longer, with proper maintainance,But we will always have those that feel they have to complain!

Sorry, SON, yu dunn pickt the WRONG place, to post yur drivel. NOW, go back to your sandbox. Yu dunnn FLUNKT "Respect 101".

Cromagnon was jus' commenting, on his ride, and his appreciation of it. Evidentally, "appreciation" is NOT in your 'vocabulary'. Psst, that would be your 'word' file.

Ya know Gump, I rarely post here, mostly because I just don't have much to add, being in Iraq and all for the last 3 years...........but something keeps me coming back to read these boards and I just figured out what it was. That hillbilly version of posting you do, it's great and it goes a long way to making an idiot really look like an idiot when you unleash it on him.

So thanks, and keep up the good work.......it gives me something to read for the next few weeks until I can get home at at least look at my toy.

there was alot to be said of the old bikes...i remeber getting upset with it, having to fix or adjust something on it to get it to run, but there was more of a feeling of accomlishment and closeness.had to become one with it and understand its quirks...depending on tempature and how long since it ran last , determined how to prime and kick it.....keep an eye on chain oiler so you werent wearing it....yeah those were the days, i still miss them once in a while

I'm newer to the bike world, but my first car was a total piece of junk. 1978 VW Rabbit which broke down consistently on a monthly basis. No repair under 100 dollars. Parts cost three times as much as my buddies American cars. I have not bought another; its been Dodges, Fords and Chevrolets since, and for the last 15 years all have gone over 200,000 miles. How many miles on the Rabbit? Couldn't tell you because the speedometer/odometer quit at 66,000.

They are all machines. They will have their problems. My Lowrider's clutch went out in the first 1000 miles and was fixed under warranty. The bike is awesome, and I have had no other problems. My wife's Sportster is four years old and has not had a single problem. I am quite pleased.

In my opinion, more people in here complain about Moco's new company policies (myself included) more than they do about the bikes.
I've been more that satisfied with my Harleys overall.
