so I get off my bike and lo and behold my right bag is missing. Now I know better. If its on a Harley and it rattles its going to fall off. Ghost Brackets ALL rattle. But I figured that being locked on it was cool. NOPE !!! I know some guys have had them for years and no worries. But I repeat - if it rattles and its on a Harley its flying off. Back tracked and never found my bag. Took the other one off so I wouldnt be tempted. Bike looks naked.
I'm amazed that you could loose a bag while you were riding and not notice.
I used to work with a guy who, at a previous job, lost a bulldozer off the trailer behind the dump truck he was driving and didn't know it until he got to his destination.
My traded my 05 Super Glide for my Fatboy. A week later, the dealer calls me and asks if I ever had problems with the detachable saddlebags. Nope, Why? Well, the new owner lost one while riding home. Well, what do you want me to do? We need you to reimburse us because you failed to tell us there was something wrong with the locking mechanism. Sorry, not my fault, I never had a problem with them... Long story short, the guy who detailed the bike (dealers detailer, not mine), took the bags off to clean, then when he put them back on, failed to lock them on.

Once you sign the title over to the dealer it's their bike. It's their job to check the bike when it's offered as trade. If you had ever experienced a problem with the detachable saddlebags, one most likely would look newer than the other or at least scratched to hell. That took nerve for them to call you.
