Rode for the first time on my dad's Kawasaki Vulcan 800. Rode a couple of times up and down the road in front of his place. When he went in for a buisness call I thought if would be cool to take it out on the real road. Nothing happen except that I got hooked. Took a while but bought my very own ticket to freedom this past may.

Remember the part about beer & tequila? We pulled the carb off, the battery as long gone and the wires were corroded (ends gone) but cleaned them up "some". Grabbed a booster starting pack off the shelf and a can of ether, hooked her up, hit the ether for a squirt, bumped the starter and she had spark and ran. We had stroked it over a few times so we knew it wasn't siezed but it still made spark.
Yes, the starter is also the alternator on them. Man, I wish I had a dollar for every foot I flew on that thing jumping approach roads and chasing cattle through the brush.

I was 6 or 7 and my dad had a big cc Bull Taco. He would put me on it with it in first and he would send me off. I would putt around until I got tired and and he would catch me when I wanted to stop. It was all fun and games until I decided I needed to see what WOT was like. They said it was a funny sight seeing a little kid on a Bull Taco full throttle in 1st gear doing a wheelie for about 20-30 yards. From what I remember is I didn't crash. That was probably the longest I ever rode a wheelie. Those were fun times. I sure miss my dad when I look back on those memories.

Memory lane, sweet....,1972, Dubai UAE, Yami 60 Enduro, brush painted purple, deep purple from the previous oilpatch brat. The bike was given to papa bear as an offer of good will for work as his kid had out grown it and Dad was the station Mgr. for Dowell Schlumberger. What a blast in the dunes man! Dad soon bought Mom a Honda CB125 streeter and a Yami 350 street for himself, they were a bit tough in the sand but we tore it up on those too!

These were the bikes, may be out a year or 2 tho':

I was 12 and Dad got me a 1969 Yamaha 100. We took it out to a big field with a friend of mine who also rode and his Dad. I got on it with Dad on the back, barking out orders and telling me everything I was doing wrong, making me nervous as a cat. It was hard as hell to ride with my Dad on the back but I managed. He finally got off and I soloed. Also learned about riding in ruts that day. I've got a picture of it somewhere.

Saved up & bought a new Honda SS125 when I was 16.
Very little instructions. Bet I stalled out 3 times in 5 mile
drive home.
