My wife started on a Sportster, but now rides a Honda 750 Shadow alot lower, more comfortable and easier to ride.
My wife's first bike was a 2005 Shadow Aero 750, and she traded it in on a 2006 Heritage Classic in March...She absolutely did not like the feel of my Sporty, because of the high COG. SHe rode hers for about 18 months, and 12,000 miles before trading.
