But isn't crankshaft end play a factor or problem with gear drive in the later models? I'm gonna see if someone in the tech forums will do a summary on this procedure or maybe its there and I just missed it. thanks again
It can be...
I believe the runout limit is 0.003". You measure that with a dial indicator, located so the dial rides where the cam support plate bushing 'seat' is located on the crankshaft. They say if the runout exceeds that, there will be significant interference which will make it noisy. There are over/under sized gears, to accomodate the amount of clearance needed. Some one else will have to explain that part tho.
I could have been mistaken. Point taken. Alhough believe I have heard the INA bearings had some fault also? Still, I could be mistaken. My mental Roll-a-Dex gets shuffled about quite often...
CroK and to the OP I appologize...The information I had posted is INCORRECT. CroK you were correct in that the INA bearing is also trouble. The upgrade inner cam bearing is the Torrington full compliment (cageless) bearing. CroK I think you and I share the same Roll-a-Dex.
