Good link. This is the touring section. Many of us "tour". Thanks for sharing.

I don't think this gives very good recommendations for the central Indiana area. Most of the places I've never heard of and the best places I can think of are not there.

And again, as I suggested you can easily add places. That is what is so cool about this site. If you want to add a place, unless you already have the info use switchboard.com, yellowpages.com, google or whatever, get the address, couple other questions answered and walla!!! Very simple process, just don't expect it to show up until the next day. I really wish every biker with a palate above fast food would add anything they can to make the site all it is intended to be.

Thanks much for the post! I signed up to reply because I got so many links from this thread I figured I should see what everybody was saying...

Anyway, I don't really cover Britain. I just put the Ace Cafe in as a joke. Mostly it's for the US and Canada.

Like I say on my "add" page... "Entries are reviewed before being published, just to keep the spammers and jokesters at bay. I’ll usually get to it quickly, but give me a few days before panicking…"

Usually I get to it the same day or the next, but sometimes I pretend I have a life and it will be 3 or 4. I put a fair amount of work into each entry, filling out the fields the author left blank, a little light spell checking, etc. This is not automated.

Anyway, thanks again.

Fellas.

The list is rider driven. If you see something missing, add it. If you see an entry that sucks, press the pencil icon and say why. I respond to input. I've made it as easy as I know how to.

If you know of a better, more useful and comprehensive list of ride-to-eat type of spots out there, give me the link and I'll pull the plug on my site tomorrow. If ridetoeat.com isn't the best I'm not interested in doing it anymore.

If you take a moment to check out this and this it might clear up what the site is all about.

You've obviously got strong opinions about the subject. That makes you the most important type of rider I want to hear from. So I hope to hear from you!

Default New Idea?

A while back I had a thought....is there anywhere a biker can stop to eat, shop, fill up with gas, wash, and maintain a bike all in one stop? I am thinking of starting a chain of these.....Open Road Cafe or something. I would have an area for lounging (couches, tables, etc.) with computers for people to check out HDF while stopping for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Fireplace and pool table, plus your typical booth area for sit down eating. Then, after you eat, you can head over to the merchandise area for a shirt, or maybe a new spark plug, or tire repair kit, or maybe even rain gear. After that, you can head out to the indoor bike washing facility. Put some tokens into a machine and out comes bike detailing goodies. Then, off to the pump for some gas and your on your way.

The reason this idea came to me was when I was riding one day and thought to myself, why don't the dealerships sell gas or food? Bikers stop at the dealer to see the bikes (oh yea, this place would also have a few bikes on display from the local dealerships, not just HD) maybe pick up a shirt, then they drive across the street to get gas, then go a few blocks and stop and eat. So, it would be kind of like a dealership/convenience store/cafe all in one....oh yea and did I mention the bike wash? Oh and on the maintenance side of things....thinking of a shop for room for four bikes. Tool use by the hour and of course, oil is available in the store.

What do you think?
