Iron883/Gas Cap Issue
Whats up everyone Ive had an Iron 883 for about a year now and am fairly new to the forum (this and xlforum). I will post pics of my baby soon as I am almost done with mods (yea right). Anyway, I love all the crazy gas caps you can get for the bike however i am particularly interested in locking gas caps and NOT the chrome HD one! Ive searched pretty hard on the web and had no luck. For my next question: Does anyone know if a locking automobile gas cap ie. stant cap would fit on the bike? I wouldnt mind the rustic barebones look it would bring on anyway

Seems like any auto cap would be too large in diameter. Measure your stock Harley cap and go to auto zone or something and then see if they have any that would match up.
We have a really good Sportster section in here, you oughta go introduce yerself there as well.

If It were me Id ride my bike to a auto parts store. Try to match one up. Ask the store sales person if you can try it on the bike to see if it fits. I think one would fit and work. Most are made of black plastic. I have a 06 Jeep Wrangler gas cap laying around. When I get a chance i'll see if it fits on my 09 Sporty. I'll dig it out to see if it has the same thread and depth as the Sporty cap give me a day or two.

Hey guys thanks for the advice, i will head over to local auto parts store this weekend with measurements as its too cold here to ride. I checked a few links i got from xlforum (dennis kirk...) and they all had locking gas caps but once again mostly all chrome which is not the look im after with the iron. I will have pictures up as soon as i get my heavy breather and cafe racers decals on...
