NO, not unit specific, per se! It's just two bare wires at one end (the battery end) and a mini-USB plug at the other. Any Garmin (or other device I would imagine) that uses a mini-USB for power, this cable should work. Some Garmin's do not use a mini-USB plug for power; the Zumo's come to mind.
Is anybody using a Garmin with Ram Mount, that the Ram Mount wasn't listed for the Garmin Their using?? There has to be a Ram Mount compatible with another Garmin not listed. Being screen sizes the same, I would think another model would work. I called Ram Mount, they say they make mounts for the more popular models. I'm finding the popular models are units over $200.00!
Get a RAM Mount and any GPS unit you want. The ones made for motorcycles are waterproof, but you dont HAVE to have a waterproof GPS unit necessarily. Some people use a ziplock bag on theirs. I just took mine off while in the rain.
I had a cheap little Mio C220 and rigged up a wiring harness (be sure to get a proper wiring harness with a voltage regulator matching your GPS unit and a fuse). Wired it under the dash and there you go ..
I could have used the shorter arm length on my RAM Mount, but the longer one brings it closer to me. You can use those RAM Mounts for cameras too. Pretty kick ***. Very popular here. http://www.ram-mount.com/
Hey there,
Looks like you plugged in the GPS somewhere? Is it to recharge it while riding?

Yeah, its hardwired to the battery so it keeps powered while riding. You have to buy a wiring harness with the voltage regulator thing built in. Mine uses a min usb at the GPS end like a lot of units and this harness was the one for me: http://*******.com/ygnmutf

Got everything on order! Garmin Nuvi 285WT, couldn't pass up the price. After spending a couple days roaming all over town to see price and availability, Amazon.com comes thru- again!
I used my cheap TomTom1 and stuck the circle to the triple trees and the I converted the car adapter into a 12 power supply and placed it in the headlamp with a inline fuse running off the headlights, OK its not waterproof but in Florida I don't care, it works perfectly for me and looks OK as well
