Are you kidding me? First off the salt on the road will pit the hell out of all the chrome/aluminun and if that is not enough reason unless you have a trike or a side hack you will end up on you're *** !
I got the Harley snow tires and plow kit for my Bonz. I did my driveway and all my neighbors. The only thing wrong the plow is slow going down. .......
Buy a snowmobile... it's a harley made for snow. I live in texas now so don't have any of the problems ya'll have with the snow but when I lived in Illinois everyone would ride their snowmobiles in the winter. Sometimes when we had some really bad snow ins everyone would ride em up to the bar. Was a good time. Had a buddy who's snowmobile would go 80mph. Don't know if anyone has every been that fast on the snow but that is damn fast and dangerous. Makes riding my harley feel as safe as playing football with a nerf ball in a padded room.

There's rarely enough snow in Illinois for snowmobiling. Most people here trailer their sleds up to Wisconsin.
I ride year round as well, but as others have said not when there is ice & snow present. With the 50" of fresh snow over the last week it might be a while for me.
The other thing to be cautious with is when the snow thaws during the day and freezes on the road at night (black ice) and is tough to see in the wee morning hours on the way to work. It will make your cheeks pucker (not the ones on your face) when the back tire slides on ya then catches fresh pavement.
