It's unfortunate that "global warming" is the term that the media latched onto (and most of the public).

Scientists call it "global climate change." Average global temperatures are rising overall, summers are getting longer and hotter, more water is evaporated/sublimated, and as a result previously normal weather patterns are exaggerated because there is now more moisture in the atmosphere in the temperate zones. When seasonal atmospheric temperatures drop, so will all that moisture it was holding (in the form of rain and snow).

So, yes, while a frost or two might have been normal in places like Texas and Florida in winter, now you get snow. That once-in-a-decade storm you used to get will now be more like 2-3 times per winter.

Enjoy it! We like it up here.

Rode mine yesterday. It seems we have to put ours up for a couple days a week this winter. I sure miss "normal" weather, it should be almost a high of 60 degrees this time of year.

You might want to take a look at a paper published by Richard S. Lindzen, a highly accomplished and respected professor of meteorology at MIT, before ya jump on that bandwagon. It's a long read, but well worth it, as it spells out much of the complex science behind climatology, some of the shortcomings of simpler approaches/models being adopted to support man-made climate change theories, and some of the historical highlights behind the current movement that could be aptly identified as an hysteria. Pay special attention to where he gets into a bit of the history behind the movement about halfway thru the section entitled, 'Consensus and the Current "Popular Vision"'.

Science is not science if it is used simply to support an agenda. True science makes no fuss over opposing findings and viewpoints, as its real objective is the truth. I have to say I'm all for responsible living, and doing what we can to reduce pollutants...that's just common sense...but, what is happening now, and has been happening for longer than probably a lot of folks are aware, is just dangerous on serveral levels.

TJ, why are you trying to cloud the issue with facts? Don't you know since man mastered fire, the planet has been warming up. That had to be the reason we left the ice age.

We all know Al Gore invented the Internet and then he saved the world by making us a aware of the global devastation of global warming. Thank you Al!! He hasn't been seen lately, but the rumor is he's working on a cure for cancer and peace in the Middle East.

The "average global temperatures are rising" is a favorite cheer of those blindly following this movement. If you dig into the data...and, ya don't have to dig hard or deep...you will find that the actual rise in global temps over the last century or so, is somewhere around 3/10's to 6/10's of a degree, and most of that happened prior to 1940, as stated by Professor Lindzen. Other studies I've read go on to further state that this rise has not been exactly constant, but has fluctuated...as in the natural cycling of our climate. Also, many of the scientists that have put their signatures to various consensus petitions and such, do not even specialize in the fields of meteorology or climatology, not to mention that many have been coerced into complying via funding threats. However, they have still been held up as "the majority of scientists and experts" that support man made climate change, or "global warming", which was what all of this was initially called even by the scientists, and was not simply an unfortunate choice of wording by the media.

By all means, let's be responsible with our planet as we move forward, but "being responsible" does not mean following junk science slanted to support political, personal, and financial agendas, or media driven popularity contests.
