If you have a Facebook account....look them up on there. It changed my mind, from all the comments.

I went in 1988 and I learned the basics. Just enough to get myself a job and in trouble. It was a good basis to build from. Had a job lined up before I even finished. Best advice I can give is when you get in a shop find someone that really knows what they are doing and get them to mentor you.

I only did it for a few years and got out of it because I started loosing interest in even being around bikes after working on them all day.

I think when you take a passion and make it a job it starts to lose it's appeal. Had I started my own shop it might have been different. Good luck should you decide to do it.

its a fun job, you will be sick of bikes after you get off work, after 13 years (started at 16yo)of working 6 days a week,10-12 hour days, the best i ever made was $24k a year.. was fun till i moved out, and got a family and needed some real money..

You don't need MMI to be an HD tech. You can work in a shop doing the basics and work your way up and test in front of instructors, etc. to get certifications.

Don't waste your time and money. Employment prospects for tech is not very good in this economy. The market is full of unemployed techs looking. Stop in and talk to some service managers in your area, they will lay it out for you.
