I would leave it priced at that for 2-3 months if he can afford to wait. I don't know about your area but up here selling gets easier when the summer jobs start. It's not gonna depreciate so be patient.
It's a great looking bike. 10.5 sounds a bit steep to me but then again it's worth what someone is willing to pay. I agree if he's not in a hurry then start at that price and see if there is any interest. The price can always be lowered later.
I'm wishing the best for your Dad.
It is probably "worth" every penny he is asking. But, people will probably not pay more that $8,500 to $9,000. It will be 12 years old in a few months.
It is a sharp looking bike with very low miles. In today's market, that advertised price may stop some potential buyers from even calling on the bike. He probably should at least state price is negotiable. Around here the market for that bike is generally under $10K.
If I was a buyer, I would be worried about the bike having not been ridden for over two years. You need to put about 500-1K miles on it since the tune and new gaskets just so he can say it has been ridden that much with no problems. $8500 to $9000 is probably the market, but this is just a guess. Good luck. That's a sweet bike.
During these tough time, its worth more to U than what others will pay...
Every one is looking for that "DEAL" even the ones that have the money and could pay more.....
Around the mid central here in Indiana it don't seem like the prices are as low as other part of the country...at least the ones I've seen in the paper.. of course thats asking price, don't know if they sold or not....
It would take a yr or better IMO for things to get back to even close to where they were if Ur thinking of sitting on it.

Hey i appreiciate all the responses this bike would never get sold if he could ride being age 55 yrs old his health has declined drastically over the past few years where he can no longer feel his legs and a mirage of other things.for someone who has rode since he was 8 yrs old to give it up must be hard and i hate to see him sell it but temptations are always there and we would hate to get a call.so he said 9000 would be the absolute lowest he would go as per what most have said.i do not ride motorcycles i have a tendecy to see how fast stuff goes or how far can i push things.so having a wife and youngins i dont want to tempt myself.well i want to say thanks to all the info and hope you all have a good year.
This is a great example of a great bike being available for a great price. Folks are stressing over MSRP @ 15 - 20 K. Here is a solid, reliable (I assume), low mileage bike and it goes begging. I bought my 96 in 2007 for 11K and have felt good about it since.
