IMO HIDs aren't a good idea on bikes because they are simply too sensitive to voltage and vibration. They sure do look bad *** though.
I can understand the voltage issue but I've read that they're less susceptible to vibration issues because they don't have a wire element in them. I'm not saying you're wrong, I don't personally know, but it is an inconsistency in info. The trick now is to figure out which is correct!
I run PIAA Xtreme White 110/100w H4's is all my scoots. Standards are 60/55w.
People that ride with us, are just AMAZED at how much light they throw.
We live in DEER COUNTRY major time.
I also run 60/60w spots, vs the 30w stockers, tapped into the dimmer switch via relays. (Has hi and lo beam spots)
IOW, that's 230w on High beam. vs 120w. YOU make the call.
Just make sure you KEEP them aimed properly. Lotta light is NOT GOOD if it's used to blind the "other guy".
Riding at night?? Slow down. Like I said, DEER COUNTRY !!!! H*LL, I even JUMP on the brake, for the friggin' garbage cans peeps put next to the mailbox. Sometimes they can appear to be a deer.
.
I just put one of those in my ride....have yet to test it out however
Anyone have trouble with stock wiring size when using the 100 watters.?.
Though I read last yr, when I waz thinking bout changing out to brighter bulb that several in here had said there wires melted, said they sometimes need to make sure there heavy enought to carry the load..
Melting U wires would not be so good ither..
Good call. I am wondering about an upgrade alternator -or mobile nuclear plant... requirements. Sounds like a big load change.
