They just ran ANOTHER story on potholes over the weekend.
Mpls, St. Paul, Hennepin County, and most other suburbs, etc, have already used up all the cold mix, they 'normally' order, every year. Usually have 'left over'.
The plant, which usually does not crank up til April 1st, for the road season, was scrambling like H*LL on Sat and Sun, trying to get materials (frozen in the gravel pits) and frozen asphalt in barges (???) and get the plant to fire up, so they could make mix this week. So far, no luck, they said. TOO COLD, yet.
-10 here this morn.
And with the state broke, like everybody else's, could be a VERY interesting riding season, to say the least.
This has been a hard winter on roads around here depleting what small highway fund we have. WV Highway department has two mottos. "Why re-pave when we can just patch?" and "We leave no turn un-stoned".
The Omaha metro is worse than I have ever seen it in the 20 years I've been here. The first few months of riding season are going to be a constant obstacle course. I'm a little worried for my wife, she's still a relatively new rider on a brand new bike.
Just out in this S#!+ weather and noticed how bad the P Hole situation is.All this rain ,snow, freeze, and thaw is playing hell with the asphalt.Gonna be a rough spring with all the marbles left on the roads.
Potholes....schmotholes....we have em big enough to get lost in...always have always will.......the temps here always go from -10 to 100F in one year so it is just part of life.
