Amen to not having to put them to the real test.

Default Motorcycle jeans vs motorcycle overpants

I own the dragging jeans liners which are basically kevlar long underwear. They cost 150 and are not confidience enspiring given how easily they tear. According to Draggin Jeans they use pure Kevlar.

From the Save Your Hide Guide:
"Dupont strikes again
In order to give it the proper motorcycle abrasion strength Kevlar
must be woven together with Cordura and Lycra, ei Schoellerʼs
Keprotec. These are the only suits approved for road racing other
than leather. Some gear manufacturers use small portions of
pure Kevlar as a gimmick. Quality full suits of it can be found.
This gear is lighter, offers greater protection and it breathes. It
slides on pavement the same way as leather and dissipates friction
heat better than leather. Due to itsʼ innate toughness during
construction and the fabrics limited availability it is not widely
marketed so it will take a bit of looking to get one."

I also have Shift motorcycle jeans which I wear with Icon FieldArmor knee pads underneath. I would not want to wear motorcycle jeans without additonal knee pads or wear them on the highway.

Check out something like Olympia overpants. They are as protective as leather with heavy Cordura on hips, knees and ***, have built in knee and hip armor. You can slip them over boots and jeans next to your bike because of the full length zippers in the legs. With just shorts underneath they are a lot cooler than jeans in the heat, with mesh panels exposed, and with the vents closed and liner installed will keep you warm down to 32F.
