Thanks for the back up hullhorr and sorry to you WV_BOY I didnt mean to start a bunch of crap in your thread. All I wanted to do is say thanks and give you a tip on chaps. When I bought my bike and they told me I was part of the family I never thought this would be such a dysfunctional family. Damn this is too much like home.
i bought overpriced hd chaps but they were good quality leather and wear like iron. my squeeze got some from Hot leathers and they made them fit her REAL GOOD.
The size of your thigh is the determining factor. I'm 6', 36" waist, 30" legs. I had to go with a XXL to get them around my thighs. Then cut off approx 3" off the legs to get the right length (easy to do with an exacto knife). Then I had to overlap the lace up in the back to get it small enough for my waist.
Regardless, measure your thigh at the thickest part and find one that will fit you that way.
Well i am from West Virginia and stationed at RAF Lakenheath in ENgland. I work on the f-15..So when i leave here i shall be returning to Lakenheath. I Just ordered me some from Fox Creek Leather... Cant wait.. hope they fit.
[quote=madjimmax;6391335]I bought mine at a rally from what I've seen thats where to get the best deal, But since it dont look like your making to one for a while I would check out Hot Leathers online like mentioned before. People do say that they look funny, But they keep me warm when its cold so to me thats what counts. Fitting shouldnt be a problem I think they just go from small to XXXlarge once you contact Hot leathers or someone like that they'll hook you up on size. And by the way thanks for your service to our country.[/quote
madjimmax-I knew you were right.
WV-BOY,what part of our wild, wonderful state are you from?
Chaps are great, but, I gotta say, try them on. Ironically, most of the leather seems to come out of Pakistan. Could you get over there? For a pre-retail fitment? You do need to get them long so you can cut them off. Maybe they will be perfect, and if thats the case your bike should be near for the test.
I've lived in Minnesota and New Mexico and I've always liked wearing shorts. chaps solve the problems of riding in shorts. I'm also Norwegian enough so I look really stupid in shorts and riding boots: Native American moccasins solve that problem.
