If you get a chance, Dr. Ozs show today (1st 15 minutes) is on cellphone usage and driving. I know there have been a lot of threads on this lately, so I thought I would pass this along. Interesting statistics.
My wife records Dr Oz so had a look at it. Same stuff that has been discussed here a lot - using a cell phone is at least as bad as driving drunk and texting is a multiple times worse. Using a cell phone and texting uses the same areas of the brain as are needed to drive with - overwhelms the brain. And, using a hands free cell phone has exactly the same degradation of driving skills as holding a phone to your ear. Its not the act of holding the phone that causes the problem, its the inattention to driving that is the problem.
The good news is that hopefully a lot of soccer moms and teenage / young 20's girls will have seen it and had a wakeup call.
I can see the part about stopping texting. So lets stop the CB's GPS and ONCALL.
People have been using CB'S for along time, hummmm just like cellphones? GPS well I'm lost so I'LL just take a look at the sceen and see where I am, no need to stop and lose travel time??? I need some information, Welcome to ONCALL may we help you. All while your driving along. Think about how many radios safely get used every day before you knock down cellphones.
