My do-rag blew off and hit the pavement at about 70mph but I still wear it. WTF, those things can cost as much as $10.
LOL! yeah my hat has hit the floor more times then I can count and I still use it LOL!.
I have 4 helmets and all but one of them has been dropped at least once and i feel safe useing them, but most of the time I don't use one so I guess something is better then nothing. Really I just think it's a way for the helmet companys to sell more products. Did you guys know that helmets have an experations date? well they do and some are only rated for like 2 years and then it says to get a new one WTF??????? yeah right I'll get right on that one LOL!
I have been rockin Arai's for the last 15 years. They also suggest NOT painting your helmets, and replacement every 2 - 3 years. Their look on it is the resins that bond the shell together start to break down. It might look perfect, but wont hold up as well in an accident.
I have my custom painted Rx7rr that is just a shelf queen now, and Black signet for my trips now. Will most likely get a new 7rr Corair in mat black soon. But yeah. $700.00 for a lid is hard to swallow, but it beats the cost of having your brains scooped up.
my daughter knocked mine off the steps, where i should not have left it, and the paint is scratched up. if it cannot with stand more of a drop than a cell phone can, then i really am not too worried about it working! i understand a wreck or hard impact, but honestly, if it cannot handle a drop from a few feet, or a jot down 4 stairs, will it really work anyway?
Actually, even if you don't drop it, a helmet won't do you much good. They're only rated as safe for 14mph impacts.
Blah Blah Blah...... If I was going to smack my head on the ground, I'd much rather do it with a helmet on, that 14mph might be just enough to save your life. If you don’t like wearing a helmet.... cool.... no problem.... but don’t try to sell people on the fact that they just don’t help that much or that you might be better off without one. Increased survivability for riders wearing helmets is a proven fact, do they increase the likelihood of neck injuries..... absolutely! But the number one cause of fatalities among motorcyclist's is head injuries, and like it or not helmets reduce head injuries. Don’t believe me??? Go ride your bike (without a helmet) head first into a brick wall at 13mph, make sure you stand up on the pegs so you will easily clear the handlebars and you will hit the wall with your head first. If you survive I'll pay for the damages to the bike....... I take that back don’t do it! If you’re willing to argue that helmets "don’t do much good", you might actually be crazy enough to go ride your bike into a brick wall, and I don't need your death on my karma.
