Great post! -After years of riding other bikes we got the Harley and I figure when I am on it I am where I want to be - Why the hell would I rush and speed to get off it!?!? I swear since I got my harley I am a better cage driver - My wife even said you used to drive the cage fast and angry but now you driver slower but you are still angry - LOL - I am with Heather - 50mph is great - You don't get knocked around and the pace is just plain relaxing - I do the interstates when I have too but now I just relax on the right and do the limit -

No offense but these are all pretty lame excuses. At least I can admit that I wish I could blow by these guys. It'll never happen but you all know that if you actually did have a faster bike you would love to rub it in their faces. Only about cruisin? B.S. Maybe you should all try somethin that cruises nicely but can still fly. For that I have a blown 400ci 6 speed '67 Chevelle that'll waste most of the bikes here (11.5s 1/4mi.) not to mention all those buzz-bomb civics and eclipses. Stop pretending its not about speed just cause what American bikes lack in that area American cars more than make up for.

Personally, I never understood the racing mentality. I like the power my bike has for passing and getting out of the way, I have complete confidence in it, but I don't particuarily consider driving at a 130+ any fun. I like to look at stuff around me and never get tired of it. At high speeds you can't do that. Sh*t happens way to fast to react if your not concentrating on where your going. The adrenalin rush I get from just cruisin is enough for me.
And to top it off, I believe a lot of the accidents that happen due to dangerous speeds just raise the statistics that our very own loved ones use against us pleasure riders. T h a n k s a freek'in lot!

A lot of times, I think that some people are in a hurry to get someplace and they don't stop to think about what they have missed along the way. I think that it's the way that society is going, always in a hurry and never enjoying the moment. Like the young bull and the old bull, let's slow down and do it all.

We like to do a little running sometimes for a short distance, just to clean the carbon out of the engine. Well that's as good as excuse I can come with. But for the most part I like to cruise at around the speed limit or a little over every now and then.

I can only speak for myself but I really don't care if I can keep up with or pass some human pimple on a crotch rocket. I just bought my first H-D after years of fast suzis. If I wanted to go fast I simply would have stayed on my suzi. Matter of fact I still have it, just ain't much interested in ridin' it no more.

11harley1 are you kind of like lost or something? Speak for yourself but I can guarentee that I don't give a rats *** about going 190 miles an hour. Don't give a rats *** about your chevelle either if the only reason you have it is to boost your ego. Don't get me wrong love classic cars with beefed up motors but for you to assume that everyone has speed envy is retarded. I bought my bike because once I sat on it I had to have it. Never happend when I sat on a jap bike even though I owned a couple. Just always enjoyed riding. Owning a harly is a honor thing for me. Makes me feel incredible. A bad day jump on the bike 15 minutes later I am full of energy and my mind refreshed. Never happend on my yamahas I owned but sure happens on my heritage. I guess I am rambling so if I have to explain you won't understand.
