This is starting to get to me.
I've had a few days off this week and the weather is fantastic.
Rode my Wide Glide a lot.
Went to visit a friend at his office. He came outside to check out the bike when I was leaving. His comment was, "that bike is like a sportster, right?" I was shocked.
Then in the afternoon of the same day, my Dad came by my house. He was admiring my bike and then he said, "that bike is like a Sportster".
My bike has lots and lots of chrome, and that Wide Glide style. (the original, not the new style WG)
I'm now looking for a new dad and friend.

I'm relatively new to Harleys, but in the short time I've owned it no one has called my FXDC a Sportster.
They do seem to have trouble figuring out that my other bike is a Sportster (it's an '09 XR1200). On the other hand I've never heard anyone call the XR a girl's bike, so I guess it all balances out in the long run.

so??? some one says something, that proves they have no clue..... is this the first time you've come across this?
90% of the general population wouldn't know a Harley-Davidson Wide glide, from a Sportster... if it SAID Wide Glide on the side of the tank.....

Hey OP dont feel bad, actually had a guy ask me once, Hey doesnt Sportster make a Harley right, who makes yours? Yeah i ride a Wide Glide. According to him, all Harleys are sportsters, i dont know what he thought Harley meant. Who knows.
