We're going to Nova Scotia the last week of August and taking the CAT ferry out of Portland, Maine.Looking for information on tie downs and tips on traveling in Nova Scotia from anyone who has taken this ferry and toured the country. Also, how long is the ferry ride. Thanks
Have a great trip! The ferry ride used to be 10 hrs from Portland, but I heard the new ferry cuts that time considerably.
Don't forget to see the Bay of Fundy during your trip around NS and the Cabot Highway. My only regret is that I didn't see the Halifax side when I travelled there.
If I had it to do over, I'd just ride all the way up the Maine coast to NS. It would probably take an extra day or 2 this way, but more excuses to stop for lobster along the way.
The ferry ride was boring; the only good thing was watching porpoises wake-surfing off our bow wake.
My Bud just got back to Ontario from NFLD. The went from Ontario to NY & VT then Maine and into New Brunswick. The ferry supplied tie downs. The had 14 bikes on the way to the Rock and 30+ coming back.
Great trip and they did 7400 kilometers (4500 miles) in the two weeks.
They met a pile of bikers with the furthest away being from California.
