Default Need Hot Wire

I need to wire in my amp(TURN ON LEAD) to a wire that is hot when ignition is on only. I did find a wire to the tail lights but when I would plug it all back together, there was not enough power/amperage. What wire do I need to tap into near the battery?

When I installed my Elf amp the hot wire went directly to the + connector on my battery, for the "turn-on" signal wire I spliced into the orange wire at the lighter plug and for my ground I used one of the common ground points on the frame (next to the seat - left side). My bike is a 2008 FLHTC.

Hope this helps, got some pics, if you need them holler ... cybermunster@hotmail.com

Use the wire to the tail light but hook it to a relay that is tied into your battery. The relay will get power from the battery only when the lights are on. That is how I wired mine, works good. Just get a relay at your auto store.

I tied in with the black wire with purple stripe in that is in the wire harness and heads out through the rear fender. I pulled the pin out of the harness and tied in with it and put it back in.

Default Hot wire

Senior Chief when I had my RK it had a hot wire inside the headlight nacalle. It had a red plastic end on it. I think it was supposed to be used if you wired something to the aux switch. Check inside to see if you have one.

I personally would wire it to the terminal on the ignition switch that supplies power to the bike.
