Default Forward controls performance

Looking at getting forward controls for my Nightster. It doesn't seem to bring my legs too much farther forward than the mid controls. I've ridden a Fat Boy with forward controls with no issue. The thing I'm wondering about is the forwards come with this big warning: "may change the performance of the bike and cause distractions".

Would forward controls drastically change the performance of a smaller bike like mine? I'm not going to be running floorboards or changing the pegs?

Well some will say that you have better control with mid's my brother being one of them, but I tend is disagree. My Sportster has forwards and it handles great! the main down side to forwards it you can't stand up on them over bumps or to adjust your shorts LOL!, but I would not have an HD with out them-infact that was one main selling point for me on my bike. Plus IMO they look better. Go for it and you will love them.

That warning is simply the company trying to protect themselves from getting sued.

I have forwards on my nightster and it didn't change performance at all. I don't feel like my feet are much further forward than they were with mids, although my knees don't ache as much after long rides. The point about not being able to stand up over bumps or get rid of "crotch creep" is true, but short raises to adjust can be done. I notice that i dont' drag the pegs on turns at all like i did with mids though.
