Default Running wires thru handlebars

Just got a pair of Wild 1 Chubby 12.5" Apes and want to run the handlebar switch wires thru the bars. Anybody have any tips or secerts on the best way to do this ??? These are the black powdercoated bars also..Should I wrap them with something to protect them before running the wires ??

I wrapped mine with electrical tape and then used an electrical lubricant to help reduce the friction.

Should be no reason to wrap the bars, as p.c. is pretty durable. The way I did my apes was to first check the hole at the bottom of the bars that the wiring will be routed through. Make sure there are no burrs. If there is, take a small jewelers file to it and make sure it is nice and smooth.Next, take a shop vac and suck some kite string up through that hole and out the end of the bar.Once you splice your wires(at different lengths,so you don't end up with one big clump of splices) tie the string to them and pull them through. I would suggest using heat shrink at the splices and run all wires through a nylon sheath. If you do this right the first time, you'll be trouble-free later down the road.Took me about three hours to do both sides. Good Luck

I agree to check for burrs and file them down. To get the string through, use a shop vac as suggested or blow the string through the handle bar grip ends with compressed air. Cover the holes you are not using to increase suction. Tape the string and the wires together very tight and go up with the electrical tape several inches. There is plenty of room in the bars for the wiring, so just pull with even pressure and take your time. It's a piece of cake if you take the time and prepare.

I've used Wild1's on 3 previous bikes. They are quality bars - you'll love them.
