i stand corrected,i don't care if he was full of sh*t or not,it looked different, and i like different. first to admit i don't know sh*t bout foriegn made stuff
That's not a 1942 Ural. That's a modern Ural...look at the heads. The 1942 engines had flat heads, this has a horizontal bar across the heads. The paint job is one that was offered on Urals within the past couple of years as well.
I think it's a Ural Gear Up.
not to mention the disc brake...
unless the rider MEANT.... the bike was taken from a 1936 BMW motorcycle under license in the USSR, and has seen very few changes in the past 74 years.....
yea i know how it is here, got it comin, didn't research.he said he got rid of the magneto and added the discs.took that link jwitz posted, they are pretty neat tho

Don't sweat it...Ural's are cool as ****, always wanted a 2 wheel drive one (some have a shaft drive runnin out to the side hack wheel) for winter riding.
Those are the nastiest POS bikes I have ever seen. And I have seen them lots.
People are really into those things tho. They remind me of shitty bicycles but back in the 70s. Fat rubber footpegs and a rubber bicycle pedal kick start, loose fitting vinyl on the spring tractor saddle and all.
People say they are reliable. I think they look dangerous at over about 10 mph or so.
These are bikes for people that were into rubicks cube when they were kids .
Something about horizontally opposed twins that just brings out the wierdos of the motorcycle world ...
